Setup and Sync Hide-Away LEDs

Hide-away LED modules offer a discreet yet powerful lighting solution for emergency and utility vehicles. Proper installation and synchronization are crucial for optimal performance and safety.

1. Understanding Hide-Away LED Modules

Hide-away LEDs are designed to be installed inside existing vehicle light housings, such as headlights or taillights, providing high-intensity warning signals without altering the vehicle's exterior appearance.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Disconnect Power: Before beginning installation, disconnect the vehicle's battery to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Avoid Airbag Deployment Zones: Do not install or route wires in areas that could interfere with airbag deployment.

3. Installation Steps

  • Drill Mounting Holes: Use a 1" hole saw to drill into the desired location within the light housing. Ensure the area behind the drill site is clear of obstructions.
  • Deburr and Clean: After drilling, deburr the hole and remove any debris to ensure a smooth installation surface.
  • Insert LED Module: Place the LED module into the drilled hole, ensuring a snug fit. Secure it using the provided hardware or adhesive sealant as recommended.

4. Wiring the Modules

  • Power Connection: Connect the red wire to a fused 12V positive power source.
  • Ground Connection: Attach the black wire to a solid ground point on the vehicle chassis.
  • Flash Pattern Selection: Use the blue wire to cycle through flash patterns:
    • Touch to Ground:
      • 0–1 second: Next pattern
      • 1–3 seconds: Previous pattern
      • 3–5 seconds: Reset to default pattern
      • Over 5 seconds: Turn off the unit
  • Synchronization: Connect the yellow sync wires of all modules you wish to synchronize. Ensure all modules are set to the same flash pattern before connecting the sync wires.

5. Testing and Finalization

  • Reconnect Power: Once all connections are made, reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  • Test Functionality: Activate the system to ensure all modules are operating correctly and synchronizing as intended.
  • Secure Wiring: After successful testing, secure all wiring using appropriate fasteners and protective coverings to prevent damage.

Conclusion

Proper setup and synchronization of hide-away LED modules enhance the visibility and effectiveness of your vehicle's lighting system. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific wiring diagrams and safety precautions.
